Ex-Barclays Head: Qatar Capital Was Not Vital To Bank’s Health

During a fraud trial on Tuesday (Feb. 19), the former chairman of Barclays bank said that Qatar was “not as central” to the bank’s plans to fundraise billions in 2008, according to a report in the Financial Times. Marcus Agius was speaking during a trial of four former Barclays executives accused of lying to the market about fees it paid to Qatar in exchange for investment in the bank.
